Adult Basic Education (ABE)

The Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program provides the essential skills for academic advancement to the Adult High School Diploma (AHSD) or General Educational Development (GED) programs.

The Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program is designed to prepare students in language arts and mathematics and advance to the Adult High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) programs. 

Note:  ABE 课程 have restrictions. Your placement in 课程 will be based on the assessment process.

Complete the following 课程 to earn a certificate!

Required 课程:

  • ABE 3001 - Language Arts
  • ABE 3002 - Mathematics

A Certificate of Competency is awarded upon successful completion of all required 课程.

If you have completed and passed all of the required 课程 in each program, submit the petition form “Petition for Certificate of Competency.”

Steps to Get Started

Use the guide below to start taking classes in the Adult Basic Education Program. For more detailed instructions, go to How to Take Noncredit Classes. 

  1. Check course availability in Schedule of Classes

    To find Adult Basic Education 课程 in the class schedule, look for the subject “Adult Basic Education”.

  2. Choose which type of student you are:

    Follow these steps if you are new to PCC OR returning after an absence of 1 or more major semester(s):

      1. 应用 to Noncredit
        • Create an OpenCCC account if you don’t have one already.
      2. Receive Welcome Letter via email
      3. Activate your LancerPoint account
      4. Schedule an appointment with a Noncredit Counselor

      5. 检查你的 Registration Status Date in LancerPoint
      6. 注册 for classes in LancerPoint 使用CRN #
